How Much Does Personal Training Cost?
Pioneer Performance is located just outside of central Newcastle for easy access.
How Much Does Personal Training Cost?
The core factors that influence the cost of Personal Training are: the gym you will be training from, the level of service you are going to receive & the skill / experience level of the personal trainer.
Personal Training Price Considerations
We understand that deciding to invest in personal training is a big step, and it’s natural to feel unsure. You’re not just looking for someone to count reps; you want guidance, expertise, and support to help you achieve your goals. After all, your health is your most valuable asset, and choosing the right trainer can make all the difference.
But, personal training costs can feel like a mystery. Costs vary a lot. Many people dive in without knowing the full picture or what’s included in the service, the trainer’s qualifications, the level of support beyond sessions, or even practical details like session length, gym location, and whether a membership is included.
Never mind the big question... how long will you need to work with a Personal Trainer before you achieve your goals?
In this guide, we’ll break it all down. You’ll discover what factors impact personal training prices as well as what you can expect from our training packages and our clear pricing so you can make a confident, informed decision about your fitness journey.
The Gym
The price of personal training can vary significantly based on the type of facility you train in. Factors like location, the quality of equipment, and whether the gym is a private personal training studio or a commercial gym catering to a large membership base all influence pricing.
At budget gyms like PureGym, The Gym Group, JD Gyms, and Everlast, you’ll typically find lower-cost personal training. In contrast, high-end health clubs such as Nuffield Health and David Lloyd often come with higher price tags for personal training services. Why? These facilities usually offer more luxurious amenities, premium equipment, and a more exclusive atmosphere.
But, one crucial factor to consider is the employment of trainer you’ll be working with. In budget gyms, trainers are often self-employed, meaning your agreement is directly with the individual, not the business.
At higher-end health clubs and private training studios, you’re more likely to work with an employed trainer or a dedicated subcontractor.
This distinction matters because when you hire a trainer through a business, there’s a layer of accountability and security to your investment. You’re not just relying on a self employed trainer who rents space at a gym. Instead, you’re supported by the facility as they can insure certain standards are met.
You also have a point of contact if you feel like the service you received did not meet your expectations.
Understanding these differences will help you choose the right environment to fit your goals and preferences.
The Level of Service
Unfortunately, the default personal training service begins and ends at the gym door. For some people, this is perfectly fine, especially if their goal is simply to attend sessions and "get a bit stronger."
But if you’re striving for a specific goal, like fat loss or significant lifestyle changes, it’s essential to seek a service that extends beyond the gym.
Comprehensive personal training services often include added value such as nutritional support, habit and goal tracking, regular check-ins, and accountability systems.
These elements, which happen outside of the gym, are often the difference-makers when it comes to achieving long-term success.
Fat loss, for example, is heavily influenced by what happens outside of your workouts, what you eat, how you manage stress, and how consistent you are in sticking to your plan.
Naturally, a trainer who offers a more robust and holistic service will charge more than someone who only conducts gym sessions.
Additionally, dedicated personal training facilities often have stronger internal systems for monitoring both staff and client progress compared to commercial gyms. This built-in accountability can provide an extra layer of support, giving you peace of mind that your investment is well-managed and results-focused.
When deciding where to invest in personal training, consider not just the cost but the level of service you need to reach your goals.
The Skills of the Personal Trainer
It’s no surprise that working with a highly qualified, experienced personal trainer who has a proven track record of delivering results comes with a higher price tag than working with someone newly certified. But when it comes to your health and fitness, the trainer’s ability to deliver real results for someone like you should be the primary consideration.
Ask yourself: Have they worked successfully with clients of a similar age, lifestyle, and goals? Do they genuinely care about their clients’ progress, or is their approach more transactional?
One of the best ways to evaluate a trainer’s skills is by looking at client reviews and testimonials. These should provide insight into the results they’ve helped others achieve and offer a glimpse into the experience of working with them.
A combination of positive feedback and clear, tangible outcomes is a strong indicator of a trainer’s expertise and effectiveness.
Remember, investing in a skilled personal trainer can significantly increase your chances of success, making it a worthwhile consideration when weighing the cost.

However, most clients achieve their initial goals with us in the first 12-20 weeks, but continue to work with us for between 6 - 12 months and sometimes much longer.
Are There Any Long Term Contracts?
At Pioneer Performance, we don’t require long-term contracts. However, we do ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months and a 1-month notice period if you decide to stop working with us for any reason.
