6/11/2020 Update: Pioneer Performance is closed until 2/12/2020

Following Englands second lockdown, gyms & leisure facilities of all descriptions have been ordered to close.

This disappointing news has created much discussion between MP’s, locally and nationally. This is because gyms have been shown to be safe environments where transmission of the virus is extremely low (please see link below).

https://www.ukactive.com/news/fitness-and-leisure-sector-reports-covid-rate-of-0-34- per-100000-visits-since-reopening-in-england/

We hope that this decision is debated and overturned before December – in which case we will open accordingly.

Our Physiotherapists – Darren & SJ of Prohealth Physio, are operating as normal out of the Pioneer Performance facility as their services are exempt from the current regulations.

14/7/2020 Update: Pioneer Performance is open

The Government have announced that indoor gyms are allowed to reopen on the 25th July 2020.

At Pioneer Performance we are committed to implementing the highest standards possible to ensure a safe environment for both our clients and coaches. With this, we have joined the UK Active Covid Response Initiative, as well as implementing our own declaration that we ask every client and staff member to acknowledge by being in the facility.

Some of the key measures we have implemented to ensure the safety of our clients and staff are:

  • Asking anyone who is displaying flu like symptoms to stay away from the gym for at least 7 days unless they pass a Covid 19 test.
  • Asking clients and coaches to adhere to any advice given to them through a government contact tracing program.
  • Asking clients and coaches to wash and sanitise hands regularly throughout the day and after each session.
  • Reducing the risk of transmission via surfaces through disinfecting of equipment, before and after each use.
  • Social distancing to reduce the risk of transmission through the air.
  • Increased ventilation throughout the property by keeping our doors open or ajar whenever possible.

Although face coverings are not recommended during exercise by the World Health Organisation, clients are welcome to wear face coverings if they so wish. Similarly, if you would prefer your coach to wear a face covering during your session we are more than happy oblige. We have complementary disposable face coverings available in our reception area for both clients and coaches to use.

As Pioneer Performance is a private facility we benefit from having a ‘by appointment only’ system already in place. At our normal peak capacity (which rarely occurs), we would be 20% under the governments new recommendations (1 person per 100 square foot available) on our ground floor alone.

As we continue with our new measures we are determined to make sure this does not make you feel overwhelmed with red taped surroundings. We hope the changes we’ve made in the facility to become ‘Covid Secure’ reflect this.

23/6/2020 Update:

On the 23/6/20 the UK Government announced that indoor gyms and leisure facilities would not be reopening. This was due to such business’ being classed as “close proximity” venues, despite the array of measures the industry has now implemented (with government guidance) to make environments ‘covid secure’.

We strongly dispute the governments position, that bars, pubs and restaurant’s are of a lesser risk to public safety. This is clearly an economic decision.

All of the measures described throughout this page have now been apart of the Pioneer Performance facility for many months. We will continue to implement these measures for the foreseeable future.

We have been advised that indoor gyms and leisure will be able to recommence on/around mid July.

We have steadily accrued a waiting list of consultations to take place once we have the green light to begin operations.⁣ Therefore if working with us is something you’ve been thinking about for a while, we strongly advised sending in an enquiry form on our website as soon as possible. ⁣We’ll be right back in touch to collect more information from you and your consultation will be prioritised when we reopen!⁣

1/6/2020 Update:

The UK Government has outlined the 4th of July as a potential date for the reopening of gyms. This date has also been backed by UK Active (a governing body for the leisure industry). The UK Active organisation has been instrumental in guiding the government on the practical implementation of adjusting and reopening gym settings.

As Pioneer Performance is a fully private, 121 personal training facility, spread across 2 floors, at this moment it’s unlikely that we will need to implement any major changes in the way that we operate to coincide with the framework from UK Active.

Nevertheless, the Pioneer Performance facility has been overhauled to make it an even safer environment to give you peace of mind.

This includes:

  • Asking all of our client’s & staff to sign an ongoing health declaration
  • Extra Pioneer Performance hygiene signage across the facility
  • New daily deep cleaning & disinfecting procedures
  • New session procedures for wiping down kit & anti-bacterial supplies to facilitate this
  • Extra hand sanitisation facilities across gym
  • An initial reduction in gym floor capacity to allow us to get used to our new procedures

We are determined to do our utmost, whilst also making sure this does not make you feel overwhelmed with red taped surroundings!

20/3/2020 Update:

Pioneer Performance has closed its door to the Quayside facility effective 20th March under the new measures issued by the UK Government.

We will re-open as soon as we are given the green light alongside other businesses who have found themselves in a similar position.

Can I still train?

Yes. We have moved every single 121 client to Online Training for the intermittent period. We have all of the systems needed to work with clients in an online capacity, both for both 121 Virtual Training and Nutrition & Training programming.

Please use the contact page to enquire about your goals. We will be in touch within 24 hours to arrange your consultation which can be delivered via Skype, Zoom or similar.

What can I do to stop the virus spreading?

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get back home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

What is the current Government Guidance?

Everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

You should only leave the house for 1 of 4 reasons:

  • shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible
  • one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of your household
  • any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
  • travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home

How can I stay healthy during this time?

During the unique situation which we have found ourselves in, it is imperative that we look after our physical and mental health.

We recommend:

  • Walking outdoors
  • Maintaining a nutrient rich diet
  • Controlling calories
  • Maintaining regular exercise
  • Avoiding alcohol and processed food
  • Keeping stress to a minimum

We are posting further advice and regular updates on our Facebook and Instagram social media profiles.
